Need to discuss a specific parenting and/or parenting nutrition concern?  Would you like some reassurance that your child is meeting their nutritional needs?   Perhaps a professional voice to help the family get on the same page?  Julie will come to you to provide a custom appointment tailored to your specific needs.

Walking Consultation 

Do you do your best thinking while moving?  Don’t want to miss your workout for an appointment?   Need to meet during lunch at work?   Let’s walk!

The walking consultation includes:

  • Pre-session email questionnaire
  • 60 minute walking dialogue (all physical abilities welcome!) in Woodinville, Bellevue, Kirkland, Bellevue, Sammamish, Redmond or Issaquah
  • Email summary of the appointment including goals set and relevant resources
  • Follow-up phone call one week after the appointment

Phone Appointment

If you have a very specific question and limited time, a phone consultation may just do the trick.  All phone appointments include a pre-session email questionnaire, 50 minute telephone conversation, email summary of the conversation and follow-up call (10 minutes) one week after the appointment.

Parenting Nutrition 101

This workshop offers a basic overview of feeding, eating and dining together to lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy relationships with friends, families and food.  By combining nutrition principles with Positive Discipline practices, caregivers become prepared to enjoy food and honor their children’s capabilities.  Through experiential activities, participants will have the opportunity to explore many themes, including:

  • Parenting styles – Past, Present and Future
  • The Division of Responsibility in Feeding
  • Inviting harmonious family meal time
  • Introducing kids to a new way of eating
  • Strategies for raising lifelong healthy eaters
  • Not your parents’ dinner table
  • Navigating nutrition in a junk food culture

This class meets for one 3-hour session.  Limited to 20 participants.

Inspired Parenting 101

An introduction to Positive Discipline, this engaging seminar supports caregivers in strengthening relationships with the children they love.  Join us to better understand why children behave in predictable ways and how to guide them in their journey.  Topics may include:

  • Parenting styles that teach life skills
  • Techniques for kind and firm connections
  • Reducing power struggles and everyday hassles
  • Finding family solutions that work for everyone
  • Using routines effectively
  • Curiosity Questions
  • Alternatives to rewards and punishments
  • Having fun with your kids – even when you need to parent

This class meets for one 3-hour session.  Limited to 12 participants.

Julie is available as a consultant for your parenting group, early childhood educator training or other organization that wishes to support families in supporting children’s healthful connections with food.

Series Workshops

Parenting Nutrition:  Feeding, Eating and Living Deliciously

This series is dedicated to growing relationships between parents, children and food.  Children naturally enjoy food and need adults who encourage their culinary curiosities. Parents need to balance their own food preferences with busy schedules that may include meal planning and preparation multiple times per day.  Both children and parents need to ensure that relationships are not lost in the fray.  Combining the philosophies of Positive Discipline and feeding competence with the fundamentals of childhood development, we create a framework for joyful mealtimes and lifelong healthy eating.

This workshop is specifically designed for:

  • Parents, caregivers and educators of children ages 0-12
  • Families desiring nutritious, peaceful mealtimes
  • Parents wishing to reduce food related power struggles
  • Those who are concerned about children eating a well-balanced diet
  • Families desiring a new food dynamic, void of shame, guilt and control
  • Parents who have lost their steam and just need some renewed inspiration!

Class typically meets for four 2 ½ hour sessions.  Limited to 12 participants.

Positive Discipline: Becoming the Parent You Admire

This workshop is designed to give parents and caregivers the opportunity to explore their current parenting style and add tools to their parenting toolbox.  Through this engaging experience, you will learn about family patterns that influence common childhood behaviors and how to guide children in feeling valued, encouraged and responsible.

This workshop is specifically designed for:

  • Parents, caregivers and educators of children ages 0-12
  • Families experiencing whining, power struggles, defiance
  • Tired parents who want to re-set and enjoy spending time with their children and feel important themselves
  • Parents, caregivers and educators interested in childhood development and raising great human beings

Classes typically meet for seven 2 ½ hour sessions.  Limited to 16 participants.
